Mangakotukutuku Kapa Haka group provides an opportunity for students at Melville High School to excel in Maori Performing Arts and to learn Tainui kawa, Maori tikanga, Te Reo Maori and Maori Performing Arts. The group has been successful in both entertainment and competitive work. The group provides a platform for students to practise Te Reo Maori and Maori Performing Arts as part of the schools curriculum.

The group membership is made up of Maori students from different tribal areas and non Maori.students who are interested in learning about Maori culture. Parents and students who are interested in joining the group can speak to the teacher in charge or attend meetings or rehearsals of the group. All are welcomed to join Mangakotukutuku.

The group is lead by local Kaumatua and Kuia, staff, a Management Committee and a team of passionate kapa haka tutors.
