Environment

Melville High School is a state co-educational secondary school, situated in the South Western area of Hamilton City. The community encompasses city, residential and rural areas.

Melville High School, Registration No. 178, has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education.

Extracurricular Programme

Melville High School has first class facilities for Sports and Physical Education, including an on-site heated indoor pool. A wide range of sport is encouraged - students are currently engaged in 23 different sports. The school also has a varied range of musical, cultural and drama opportunities. These include a Music Suite, tuition in orchestral, instrumental, guitar and vocals. Our musical students give regular performances.

Programme for International Students

Modern suites and facilities are provided for students who have English as a Second Language and programmes are provided at no extra costs. Senior students are prepared for entrance to University. Assistance for University enrolment is offered.

Accommodation

There is a once only Placement Fee of NZ$250. The weekly Homestay Fee is NZ$195. This includes three meals per day and laundry service. You will share in the life of your New Zealand family. At all times we endeavour to comply with the requirements of the New Zealand Code of Practice in the placement of our International Students.

Location

Hamilton is within 11/2 hours driving distance from Auckland, central North Island. Hamilton is the home of the University of Waikato and Waikato Institute of Technology, both world class institutions.
