Community Learning Centre Closure
Due to the 80% Adult and Community Education funding cuts announced in the May Budget by the Government the Community Learning Centre at Melville High School will close on the 18th December 2009 and will not reopen in 2010.
Neil Bruce (Director) and Diane Brown (Administrator and Liaison Assistant) would like to express our thanks to all the students and tutors who have supported the courses offered over the years that the Community Learning Centre has been in operation. We have seen examples of the new skills learnt, the projects completed, confidence grow, contacts and friendships formed by the students. Accordingly the talented tutors have shared their knowledge and skills with and learnt from the students as well.
The Future for Community Education in Schools
The Community Education Tabloid will be printed in January and distributed to homes in the Waikato. This will detail courses being offered by schools, organisations and private providers. The two Hamilton schools offering courses in 2010 will be Hamilton Boys' High School and Hamilton's Fraser High School.
